O Sacred Heart of Jesus, raging furnace of divine charity, burning with love
of souls, throughout all generations You never cease to cry out to men and women, inviting
them to drink from the streams of living water that alone can provide true and lasting peace
and eternal rest, the river of immortality that gushed from Your side upon Calvary. It was
here, on this hill of desolation and brokenness, that the wellspring of truth, goodness and
beauty burst forth, and from Your wounded side flowed forth the great sacraments of
everlasting life, the pledge of heavenly glory.
To Your Sacred Heart, the sacrament of God’s jealous love for His people, we consecrate all
that is ours – our hopes, our weaknesses, our work, our trials, our victories – we desire to
hold nothing back. In a particular way, we consecrate to Your Sacred Heart this local
Church, the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, as well as all our efforts, great and
small, to make the name of Jesus Christ known and loved by all. Make our hearts like unto
Yours, dear Lord. Make us thirst for the salvation of souls, zealous for holiness and eager to
please You in all things.
We also invoke today with loving trust the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary, the New
Eve and the Mother of God, who always cries out, generation unto generation, “Do whatever
He tells you.” May this heart, the heart of our mother, teach us to cling to You, and help us
to rediscover our baptismal dignity and the destiny that is ours.
To these two hearts, the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we
consecrate the New Evangelization within the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
Accept this prayer O Lord, which we make through the intercession of Saint Paul, and
entirely for the glory of Your name and the salvation of souls. Make us, Your people, united
in faith, hope and love, so that we, sinners though we are, may be holy, as you Lord are
holy, and all men and women may come to the knowledge of Your truth.
We make our prayer in Your powerful name, our great high priest, You who are Lord,
forever and ever. Amen.
