What a joy to read this piece! We are grateful that the Stations have found a warm welcome at Transfiguration, but the best part of the article was the commentary by our parish historian! There’s no one who can tell the story of St. John’s like you, Greg.
It ‘s been such a strange Lent. It just doesn’t seem right to observe the season without the Soup and Stations tradition that was such a Friday ritual at St. John’s. Yes, of course, other parishes do these things—and quite impressively. But it’s just not the same without Anna’s soups, Jack’s pickles and olives, and Mark’s cheese trays. And, most importantly, the extraordinary Stations as prayed by our dear Fr. Welzbacher.
