Hello Everyone,
I went by the church this morning and looked through the cross windows on the front door and took some very poor pictures through the dirty windows. I've attached a couple of them. Here is what I saw:
1.All three altars are gone. Judging from the scraps I found outside in the alley where the dumpster had been, they must have been broken apart. I saved a couple of pieces of plaster and marble.
2. The light over the main altar was taken down and is sitting on the floor in good condition.
3. The altar rail is still there.
4. It appears the pews have all been detached from the floor but many are still there waiting to be moved.
5. The stained glass windows haven't been touched yet.
6. The cornerstone is still in place.
7. The "Church of St. John" sign is still over the door.
8. There was someone inside painting the wall where St. Joseph's altar used to be. That seemed odd for a Sunday morning but then I was lurking around peaking in the windows so who am I to talk.
